Epstein Music Instruction and Publication Services’ first lesson was given in Brookline, MA. in the late 1960’s. Intermittent instruction continued in California through the 1970s and early 1980s, privately and in association with the Faunt School of Creative Music.
During this time, a set of introductory music theory books were written. These were completed in the later 1980s and became known as “The Young Musician’s Series”.
Association with Darrell’s Music Hall began in the mid-1980s, which led to a more steady stream of piano and organ lessons. Lesson volume (mostly keyboard and guitar) continued to increase thru the later 1990s.
Individual music articles were also written over these years, addressing a variety of musical topics, such as Improvisation, Song Writing, Interval Familiarization, Diatonic Scales, Metronome Usage, Finger Dexterity Exercises on several different instruments.
Participation with Steve’s Stereo & Music Exchange began in the early 2000s. As a result, a much wider variety of instruments (mostly stringed) became part of the lesson offerings.
Three songbooks were completed in the first decade of the 21st century. These were partly songs previously written but not finished and new ones. They have been arranged with students in mind, so as to provide tuneful, rhythmic, harmonically varied but level appropriate compositions.
The books have been in use for a number of years now and are routinely popular. They are currently formatted for piano, guitar, mandolin, violin and banjo.
